Is ABBATH Open to an IMMORTAL Reunion? “Yes, Of Course.”

In a new interview with Norway’s Dagbladet Magasinet, former Immortal frontman Abbath (né Olve Eikemo) says that he is “of course” open to a reunion with the band.

Abbath, who became sober last year following a disastrous South American show where he was visibly intoxicated, says that “The other guys in [Immortal] said I had a drug and booze problem,” adding, “But I never bothered them with that stuff. They only used it as an excuse [to get rid of me].”

Abbath is divorced from the sister of Immortal guitarist Demonaz (born Harald Nævdal), with whom he has a son, Torbjørn. After expressing sadness that Torbjørn rarely has contact with his uncle, Abbath added:

“Immortal reunion? Hmm. I got a text from Horgh [Immortal drummer Reidar Horghagen] saying it was great that I got sober. Harald and I haven’t spoken at all. But there’s no evil blood or bitterness on my part anymore. I realize that I was a part of the problem. Things are great for me now. But am I open to an Immortal reunion? Yes, of course. But it has to be something special. I just wish we could sit down and have a talk about things when it all went to hell, instead of involving lawyers.”

Abbath parted ways with Immortal in 2014. His last album with the band, All Shall Fall, came out in 2009. He has since released two solo albums, Abbath (2016) and Outstrider (2019). Immortal’s sole album without Abbath to date, Northern Chaos Gods, was released in 2018.
